Charlotte and George Miller are twin 10-year olds living in Hillsborough, North Carolina, in 1775. Their father, Mr. Miller, owns a gristmill just outside of town, and their mother works in their home. George and Charlotte have a brother Samuel who is 7 years old, and a sister Polly, who is 3. The Miller twins and their family live in a time when Hillsborough is seeing many changes and activity. There is increasing distrust of King George's government in the colony, with the Regulator Rebellion and the Battle of Alamance in 1771, and now adults are taking about a Revolution...

Stories will be judged by a panel of experts, including a historian and authors of books for children. Winners will be announced on August 27, 2008. Winning stories will be published in the News of Orange County in early September. Winning authors will also be recognized during Colonial Kids Day on September 13. |
Colonial Kids day will be held at the museum on Saturday, September 13, Noon-3:30 p.m. Ticket information and additional details will be available later this summer.
