May is the National Historic Preservation Month, and the Orange County Historic Preservation Commission along with the Historical Foundation of Hillsborough and Orange County are celebrating by hosting a Photography Competition.  We are inviting photographers of all ages to document this history with their film or digital cameras.

The theme this year, historic commercial buildings, allows entrants to highlight old buildings throughout the cities, crossroads and rural areas of the County—thus, bridging the past to the present and to the future.  Awards will be given in each division.

Prospective entrants in the Photography Competition may want to begin taking images now, and continue through the changing seasons. The Orange County Historical Museum will be accepting entries beginning in mid-April 2010.  All photographs will be on display during May at the Orange County Historical Museum in Hillsborough as part of the 2010 Preservation Month celebration.  Winners will be announced on May 28, at the Hillsborough Last Friday Event.

Please stay tuned for more information, including how to enter.
