Take History Home

Visitors to the Orange County Historical Museum can take a little piece of history home with them buy purchasing books on local topics; gifts and artwork; historical toys, crafts, and games; historical hats; and souvenirs of their trip to the museum. Visitors can also purchase copies of the foundation’s publications and rent historical costumes.

Gifts The Gift Shop at the Orange County Historical Museum offers a range of gifts, books, and souvenirs. We carefully choose gift shop items to reflect the mission of the foundation and to support continued interest in history. Gift Shop items are available at the museum.

Publications The Historical Foundation of Hillsborough and Orange County publishes books and pamphlets on Hillsborough and its history. Each publication can be purchased at the Gift Shop or ordered for delivery. To order any publication, please contact the museum store at (919) 732-2201.

Costume Rental The museum has more than 30 historical costumes for men, women, and children available for rent. Most are Colonial/Revolutionary War-style. The newest addition to the costume collection is a Confederate uniform. Hats, gloves, frills, petticoats, aprons, stockings, and other accessories are also available. Costumes rent for $5.00 per outfit per week. Visit the museum to see the full selection of costumes.
